The Business Development Manager is responsible to plan, direct, and control the sales efforts of the company, and to support sales and profit goals by performing the following duties. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop annual sales goals and projections.
  • Develop a plan for growing and retaining new and existing customer accounts by finding new opportunities and working with Management to develop and present solutions and services to customers. 
  • Develop a solid rapport with existing and new clients.
  • Maintaining a pipeline of new business and business opportunities coming into the company as an essential tool to promote company growth.
  • Participate in the new product development process to provide insight from the sales standpoint into product design and pricing. 
  • Follows company expectations surrounding customer entertainment and customer relations. 
  • Reviews major complaints received from customers and recommends corrective action to the applicable business unit and function.
  • Evaluates and reviews customer requests for product modifications in conjunction with existing suppliers. 
  • Establishes and maintains a mechanism to collect, analyze, and report competitive information to each business unit. 
  • Reviews general business climate and adjusts staffing and materials as needed. 
  • Develop an understanding of the solutions / services the company can provide, as well as developing the knowledge of the company’s competitors. 
  • Represents the company at trade organizations as required. 
  • 20% travel to customer locations as required.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Education and Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelors in business management, engineering, or technical degree and/or 8-10 years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Space and Defense market is preferred.
  • Experience in a highly technical environment a must. 
  • Critical component knowledge (i.e. Guidance, Space) is preferred. 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and superior organizational abilities
  • Excellent computer proficiency (Excel, spreadsheets, Word, PowerPoint, email) for analytics and presentations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem resolution skills; high attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and sales planning skills. 

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment
  • Manufacturing shop floor exposure at required. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have ability to read applicable customer/ company documents with or without corrective lenses.
  • May have to lift up to thirty (30) pounds at a time, as required
  • Must be able to push, pull, reach overhead, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend and/or sit for long periods of time.
  • Must obtain a valid drivers license to be able to commute to customer locations as needed.
