We are seeking a dynamic individual to play an integral role in developing, driving and supporting our business goals.  The right candidate should have a proven track record of providing leadership and expertise in the application of engineering activities.  If you are a talented, self-motivated individual that enjoys a fast-paced environment, and can focus individual and team energies to deliver results, you may be an excellent candidate to join our team. This position is in Northstar’s Engineering Department, and reports to the VP/GM of Phoenix.  The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary and is responsible for direct or indirect supervision of up to approximately 15 employees.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   The essential duties and responsibilities of this position are listed below.  This list is not all inclusive and may be amended by Northstar, from time to time. Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the engineering staff ensuring they provide the necessary technical support to manufacturing and quality to achieve division objectives. Ensure that all manufacturing special processes and tooling conform to customer, organizational, and governmental standards. Direct the development of new manufacturing processes and the revision of existing processes to facilitate the improved manufacturing of parts. Develop, coach and mentor team of engineers to ensure the highest level of performance and standards of excellence. Manages software control Provide evaluation and disposition of discrepant material   SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES   This position will direct the work of up to 15 employees.   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS    The physical requirements of this position are listed below.   This list is not all inclusive and may be amended by Northstar, from time to time.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties of the position. Excellent leadership and management abilities Strong problem-solving skills Strong computer skills are required. Microsoft Office products used on a daily basis Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques, Quality System, and SPC tools Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications Strong oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills     QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED                       Education Required: A minimum of a four-year technical degree such as a BSIE or BSME or equivalent experience. Experience Required: 15 years’ experience in manufacturing, business development, program management, production control, and finance is desired. Experience in the aerospace industry is ideal, preferably with most of the experience in a tight tolerance aerospace manufacturing machine shop with gears as its core competency.
