About Windcave

Founded in 1999, Windcave is a global payments technology company, pioneering Payments as a Service (PaaS) and cutting-edge financial services. Millions of transactions flow through our platform every day for some of the world's most recognizable brands across all industries. We own the whole stack, from bare-metal servers in our datacenters to the edge network and our in-house developed payments software. We're looking for an Infrastructure Administrator in Phoenix to help run it.

About the Role

Most infrastructure jobs give you one slice: you're the Windows person, or the network person, or the person who watches a dashboard someone else built. This role is different.

You'll work across a genuine mix of global infrastructure and internal IT in a high-security, high-uptime PCI DSS environment. One day you're working on infrastructure for a live payments platform, and the next you're provisioning devices and supporting our staff around the world. You'll get exposure to a breadth of technology that most administrators wait a decade to reach, including enterprise load balancers, edge networking, virtualization clusters, and real datacenter hardware, with a global team of experienced engineers to learn from. If you're a mid-level administrator who has outgrown your current environment and wants the next serious step, this is a role that will grow your career.

You'll be part of our international infrastructure team, with real autonomy and ownership during US hours and colleagues in other regions providing support.

Our Technology Environment

  • Edge security and CDN for a global payments API: WAF, DDoS protection, rate limiting, and content delivery at the edge, plus Zero Trust network access for staff
  • A live 24/7/365 production estate: virtualization clusters and multi-vendor server and storage hardware across international datacenters
  • Web infrastructure: load balancing, web servers (IIS, Nginx), and databases (MS SQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Opensearch)
  • Core Microsoft infrastructure: Windows Server, Active Directory, GPO, DNS, and DHCP across a global domain
  • Internal IT and end-user support: device provisioning with Intune/Autopilot, Microsoft 365 and Entra ID administration, workstation security with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, and hands-on support for our staff
  • Network infrastructure: switches, routers, wireless, and firewalls
  • Occasional hands-on datacenter/colocation work, including racking and cabling

This role includes a rotational after-hours on-call component for critical systems, [compensated / shared with our international teams so overnight coverage is limited].

What You'll Bring

Candidates with strong foundational skills and a demonstrated commitment to professional growth are encouraged to apply.

Required:

  • Solid experience administering Windows Server and Active Directory in a production environment
  • Working knowledge of Linux
  • Experience with virtualization (Hyper-V, VMware, or similar)
  • Networking fundamentals: switching, routing, Wi-Fi, firewalls
  • Scripting/automation proficiency (PowerShell preferred)
  • Experience supporting a 24/7 high-availability environment.

Valued:

  • Experience in a PCI DSS or similarly regulated/audited environment
  • F5 BIG-IP or other enterprise load balancer experience
  • CDN/edge security platforms or Zero Trust networking
  • Database or web server administration
  • SIP/PBX and unified communications administration
  • Datacenter operations (power, cooling, structured cabling)
  • Certifications such as AZ-104, CCNA, Security+, or equivalent experience

What We Offer

  • Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Hybrid work model (in-office Monday, Tuesday, Friday)
  • A rare breadth of technology in one role, and the kind of experience that builds careers
  • Ongoing training and certification support, with real progression paths in a growing global infrastructure team
  • Access to the latest technologies and tools in the payments industry
