SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Instructional Technology Specialist supports the Training & Development team by managing learning technologies, developing instructional content, and maintaining the Online Learning Center (OLC) to deliver effective training solutions with minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Administer OLC: user setup, course enrollment, content uploads, and system configuration.
- Maintain and troubleshoot eLearning modules across platforms.
- Generate LMS reports to track learner progress and training effectiveness.
- Develop and manage On-the-Job Training (OJT) programs for production roles.
- Provide end-user support and resolve LMS-related issues independently.
- Manage course catalogs, learning paths, and certifications.
- Collaborate with IT and vendors on system updates and integrations.
- Ensure data accuracy and compliance with documentation standards.
- Design and develop training materials: eLearning, classroom content, videos, job aids.
- Partner with SMEs and stakeholders to assess needs and implement learning solutions.
- Apply instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM) to create effective training.
- Deliver eLearning on standards, processes, and compliance topics.
- Create assessments to measure learning outcomes and identify improvements.
- Support large-scale training events and company meetings with minimal oversight.
- Stay current on trends in instructional design and learning technology.
- Comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, company policy and accepted safe work practices.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design or related business field or equivalent of experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator or in a related training and development role.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within an LMS environment.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to support end users and stakeholders effectively.
- Proven ability to manage multiple assignments and projects with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong general computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts in accessible terms.
- Experience maintaining accurate training records and data entry.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and contributing to process improvements.
- Provide outstanding manufacturing solutions and services that consistently exceed customer expectations.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Familiarity with course design and development tools; experience with Articulate or similar eLearning software is a plus.
- Exposure to adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, or technical documentation is desirable
PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB:
- Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor
- Ability to operate a computer, mouse, and computer applications.
- Exert up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading instrumentation and documentation.
- Able to hear and understand spoken directions
WORKING ENVIRONMENT OF THE JOB:
- Approximately 90/10 office/shop floor environment
- Low noise levels in office environment.
- High noise levels while working near operating machines.
- Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts
- Possible breathing of fumes, odors, dust, and mist.
