Join a team that designs, develops, and integrates advanced APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) control systems for Honeywell Aerospace. You will be a key technical leader ensuring the successful definition, decomposition, validation, and verification of system requirements across the full product lifecycle. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-integrity solutions for gas turbine engine applications.

As the Lead Systems Engineer, you will guide a small team responsible for the requirements-based engineering of APU control system functions and components. While providing direction and technical oversight, you will also contribute hands-on to requirements generation, system architecture, interface definition, and V&V activities.

You will work across the APU Control Systems organization—part of the Engines & Power Systems business—to support program execution, ensure technical rigor, and meet key customer and business milestones.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Systems Engineering LeadershipĀ 

  • Ā Provide technical direction, coaching, and review of work products created by the requirements engineering teamĀ 
  • Ensure completeness, traceability, and compliance of system requirements across all lifecycle phasesĀ 
  • Lead system architecture discussions, functional decomposition, interface definition, and requirements allocationĀ 
  • Apply environmental qualification requirements (DO‑160, MIL‑STD‑810, MIL‑STD‑461) to APU control systems, including identifying gaps between current capability and requirement intent, and determining closure strategies such as similarity, analysis, or targeted testing

Requirements Based EngineeringĀ 

  • Develop, decompose, and manage system and subsystem requirements for APU control systemsĀ 
  • Oversee and participate in validation and verification planning, execution, and documentationĀ 
  • Review and approve requirements, test plans, test procedures, and V&V evidence

Integration & Technical CoordinationĀ 

  • Work closely with hardware, software, test, and project engineering to ensure alignment between requirements and implementationĀ 
  • Coordinate requirement changes, resolve technical issues, and support impact assessments

Program ExecutionĀ 

  • Participate in project planning and provide input to schedules, milestones, and technical risk assessmentsĀ 
  • Ensure timely, high-quality delivery of engineering artifactsĀ 
  • Engage with internal and external customers to clarify requirements, present technical status, and support design reviews

Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVEĀ 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fieldĀ 
  • US Citizenship or permanent residency required due to export control restrictionsĀ 
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experienceĀ 
  • Experience with requirements development, decomposition, validation, and verification for complex aerospace systemsĀ 
  • Proficiency with IBM DOORS for requirements management and traceabilityĀ 
  • Familiarity with DO-160, MIL-STD-810, and MIL-STD-461
