Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Personal Injury Pre-Litigation & Litigation Paralegal to join our personal injury practice. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the pre-litigation & litigation process, excellent communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload from intake through settlement.

The Paralegal will work closely with attorneys, clients, medical providers, insurance carriers, and other parties to efficiently develop personal injury claims and maximize settlement outcomes.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of personal injury matters from initial intake through pre-litigation, settlement and/or litigation.
  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, treatment, medical records, appointments, and claim development.
  • Obtain, organize, and review medical records and billing documentation.
  • Monitor clients' medical treatment and follow up with providers regarding outstanding records and bills.
  • Obtain police reports, incident reports, photographs, wage-loss documentation, insurance information, and other evidence necessary to support claims.
  • Communicate with insurance adjusters and defense representatives regarding claims and settlement negotiations.
  • Prepare and submit insurance claims, settlement demands, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist attorneys with evaluating liability, damages, insurance coverage, and settlement value.
  • Prepare settlement demand packages, including medical summaries, damages calculations, and supporting exhibits.
  • Maintain accurate and organized electronic case files and ensure all case-related documentation is properly documented.
  • Track important deadlines, treatment status, claim status, and follow-up tasks.
  • Review medical records for relevant diagnoses, treatment, injuries, prior conditions, and gaps in treatment.
  • Coordinate with medical providers, lienholders, insurance companies, and other third parties.
  • Assist with settlement negotiations and communicate settlement offers and counteroffers to attorneys.
  • Prepare settlement statements and assist with settlement disbursements and closing files.
  • Conduct client follow-ups and ensure cases move efficiently toward resolution.
  • Maintain accurate case notes and status updates within the firm's case management system.
  • Perform additional administrative and case-support duties as assigned.
  • Skilled in drafting pleadings, discovery, motions, and correspondence
  • proficient in legal research
  • Trial preparation and courtroom support experience
  • Knowledge of state and federal personal injury litigation practices

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a personal injury paralegal, in a pre-litigation and litigation role.
  • Strong understanding of personal injury claims, the pre-litigation and litigation process.
  • Experience working with medical records, medical bills, insurance claims, and settlement demands.
  • Familiarity with communicating with insurance adjusters and negotiating personal injury claims.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies or missing documentation.
  • Professional, compassionate, and client-focused demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and other team members.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case-management software.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience handling auto accidents, premises liability, wrongful death, and other personal injury matters.
  • Experience preparing comprehensive settlement demand packages.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and personal injury damages.
  • Experience with case management platform Neos software.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
