About Mountain West Consulting

Mountain West Consulting (MWC) is a growing project management, construction management and consulting firm specializing in large-scale energy infrastructure projects across the Western and Southern United States. We partner with developers, owners, and contractors to deliver industrial and solar projects on time and on budget. 


Mountain West Consulting is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead high-impact infrastructure and energy projects across the Phoenix Metro Area. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering complex mechanical construction initiatives safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with client expectations.

Role Overview

The Project Manager serves as a key point of accountability for project execution, working closely with clients, engineers, architects, utility providers, contractors, and local officials. The ideal candidate brings strong field leadership, technical construction knowledge, and the ability to manage scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and stakeholder communication across multiple active projects.


Key Responsibilities


The following responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed in this role. This description is not intended to be all-inclusive and does not prevent management from assigning other duties that are consistent with the position.

  • Represent owners on capital, utility, energy, and infrastructure projects.
  • Manage project planning, execution, controls, and closeout to meet safety, budget, schedule, quality, and contract requirements.
  • Review plans, contracts, submittals, pay applications, reports, and construction documents for accuracy, compliance, and constructability.
  • Coordinate access, shutdowns, permits, schedules, subcontractors, meetings, site visits, and stakeholder communication.
  • Track schedules, estimates, changes, payments, risks, scope, quality, performance trends, RFIs, documentation, and correspondence.
  • Interpret and enforce regulations, codes, standards, contracts, policies, and contractor safety requirements.
  • Lead mechanical scopes, including piping, rotating equipment, valves, HVAC, pressure vessels, installation, punch list, and turnover.
  • Coordinate with engineers and contractors to ensure ASME, API, OSHA, and QA/QC compliance.
  • Resolve technical, field, schedule, and contract issues.
  • Maintain project records and mentor staff while promoting accountability, communication, safety, and continuous improvement.


Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Project Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Five to seven years of related project management or construction management experience, preferably in mechanical, utility, industrial, oil and gas, power generation, water treatment, or energy infrastructure environments.
  • Experience serving as an Owner’s Representative or managing contractors, consultants, field teams, and multiple project stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, contract administration, project controls, scheduling, cost tracking, change management, and risk management.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, including piping, valves, rotating equipment, HVAC systems, pressure vessels, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and mechanical material take-offs.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards such as ASME, API, OSHA, and relevant state, local, and industry construction requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction or project management software such as Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Unifier, AutoCAD, or similar systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, engineers, utility providers, leadership, and field teams.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must pass applicable background check and pre-employment drug screening requirements.

Preferred certifications and training:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
  • OSHA 10/30, American Concrete Institute (ACI)
  • National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE)
  • LOTO, electrical safety, vertical construction safety, or other related certifications.

  • Base salary: $110,000 – $140,000, commensurate with experience.
