Overview

Lead the development and execution of category strategies that drive sales, margin, market share, competitive price position, and customer satisfaction. Manage all aspects of assortment, pricing, merchandising, product quality, sourcing, and promotional planning as well oversee aspects of product development using data, market insights, and cross-functional collaboration. Deliver financial goals through everyday business management and long-term strategic planning while maximizing margin through strong cost negotiations and development of key cross functional partnerships.


Overview of Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute category plans, including assortment, pricing, promotions, innovation, quality, and shrink management.
  • Manage sales and margin performance by analyzing profitability, pricing, selection, and in-store presentation.
  • Use reporting and analytics to inform decisions and anticipate risks or challenges.
  • Leverage customer insight and market data to lead the industry with innovative, relevant product offerring
  • Set retail pricing and promotional strategies across regions through effective supplier negotiations.
  • Build category marketing strategies aligned with company priorities.
  • Source product to achieve our animal welfare commitments
  • Ensure that all federal, state, and company regulations and standards for product quality, safety, refrigeration, and sanitation are met.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain Replenishment team to optimize inventory levels at the DC and stores.
  • Maintain strong internal and external partnerships, influence teams through clear communication and storytelling.
  • Conduct competitive and market analysis to ensure alignment with customer trends and preferences.
  • Provide stores with relevant data and direction to maximize profitability.
  • Support resets, remodels, and new store openings.
  • Ensure compliance with freshness, food safety, refrigeration, and sanitation standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
  • 5-7 years of experience in category management, merchandising, and / or procurement, preferably in the meat or fresh categories.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including CoPilot.
  • Solid understanding of P&L, margins, and retail merchandising principles.
