Overview

This role is instrumental in the creation of U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings and related financial materials and assisting in technical accounting research. Responsibilities will be primarily focused on the day-to-day coordination and preparation of the Company’s financial reporting, perform technical accounting research and document memos to support significant transactions, and prepare stock compensation accounting entries. The position requires an individual with strong technical accounting knowledge, experience preparing financial statements and external reporting, and equity accounting. Position will report to Sr. Manager, Financial Reporting and interact with the Director of Accounting and Financial Reporting and Controller.

 

Position reports into our Store Support Office in Phoenix AZ. Hybrid schedule in office Tuesday- Thursday.


Overview of Responsibilities

  • Assist in overall preparation of annual and quarterly financial reports
  • Assist in overall preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements
  • Assist in technical accounting research and implementation of new guidance
  • Assist in compilation/preparation of management discussion & analysis (MD&A)
  • Compilation/preparation of footnote disclosures
  • Assist in review of XBRL tagging of Forms 10-Q and 10-K
  • Work with Finance and business departments during the data collection process to obtain required information
  • Assist in creating, preparing and administering Workday reports to support the financial statement preparation process. Review and maintain the department’s reporting calendars and request lists.
  • Assist in maintaining documentation and execution of internal controls
  • Prepare external audit requests 
  • Review significant contracts and detect accounting impact  
  • Prepare Weighted Average Shares Outstanding (“WASO”) on a monthly basis
  • Prepare accounting for stock compensation and related transactions

Special Projects/Other

  • Complete special projects and ad hoc requests
  • Assist in the monthly close process and preparation of monthly management reporting

Qualifications

  • BS/BBA degree in Accounting required
  • MS in Accounting or MBA preferred
  • CPA
  • 2-3 years Big 4 experience and 2+ years experience in an industry financial reporting role
  • Experience with Workiva, Workday, and/or Fidelity, preferred
  • Strong core accounting, analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organization and project management skills, and ability to effectively prioritize tasks
  • Energetic and inquisitive, quick learner, takes initiative
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
  • Ability to influence others and work effectively in a cross-functional environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and the capacity to anticipate and develop new processes with minimal direction
  • Proficient knowledge of computer skills including MS Office applications and intermediate technical skills related to accounting applications
