Sr. Estimator provides support for single large projects or multiple smaller projects. Primary duties include participation in bid efforts and providing administrative support to the estimating department.  The Estimator is expected to be competent in basic estimating tasks and is developing an understanding of more advanced estimating principles including conceptual estimating, project logistics, and indirect costs.

 

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of Estimates:
    • Develop and fundamental understanding of layout plans, process and procedures and construction environments.
    • Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates with direct guidance from management staff.
    • Provide ancillary support to preconstruction effort such as document control, correspondence internal/external, material research etc.
  • Cost Analysis:
    • Conduct quantity take-offs and build a foundational understanding systems takeoff with oversight from management personnel.
    • Training and understanding of cost model processes, outreach and validation
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
    • Collaborate with preconstruction, operational and opportunity stakeholders.
  • Bid Management:
    • Assist in preparation and submit comprehensive bid packages in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Engage in training, site walks and all opportunities and tasks assigned by Chief Estimators.
    • Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in cost estimating and construction methods.
    • Continuously seek opportunities to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the estimating process.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3-10 years of experience in construction estimating, with a proven track record of successful project estimates.
    • Experience in industrial projects is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Bluebeam, Excel, Word, Sage Estimating).
    • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
    • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
