The College of Engineering & Technology, is seeking a full time faculty member to teach Electrical Engineering for the traditional ground campus.

Location:   GCU's Main Campus, 33rd Ave. and Camelback Phoenix, Arizona

What you will do:

  • Equip students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assess student performance and prepare students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession.   

  • Teach undergraduate courses within the major, mentors and assists undergraduate majors in electrical engineering outside classroom hours.

  • Assist administration in driving curriculum design & development.

  • Work with leadership on strategic planning initiatives advancing engineering education.

  • Develop and administer forward-thinking short- and long-term plans for development and growth.

  • Assist the University in building a solid foundation for growth of engineering programs.

  • Foster and promote diversity and collegiality among faculty, students, and staff and is an advocate for change.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry to support internships, project collaborations, industrial mentoring and Capstone projects.

  • Assist the Dean in developing internal and external communities that promote the major field of study, college, and University.

What you need:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or similar, from a regionally accredited institution

  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience or higher education teaching experience. An equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education may be substituted. 

  • Semiconductor Fundamentals: Strong grasp of semiconductor physics, device fabrication, materials science, and transport phenomena.

  • Circuit Design & Analysis: Ability to teach analog/digital circuits, VLSI design, PCB layout, and integrated circuit (IC) design. Ability to teach Electromagnetism is a plus.

  • Simulation Tools: Proficiency with simulation and design tools such as SPICE, Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor Graphics, and layout editors.

  • Fabrication Processes: Experience with cleanroom protocols, photolithography, doping, etching, deposition, and measurement techniques.

  • Characterization Tools: Familiarity with electron microscopy, ellipsometry, probe stations, and electrical measurement instruments.

  • Hands-on Laboratory Skills: Ability to design and supervise practical labs, guide students in testing and fabricating devices.

  • An extensive, advanced and current knowledge of electrical engineering, specifically, in one of the following sub-disciplines – programming, circuits, embedded systems, digital systems or closely related field.

  • Demonstrated experience in project management, and the ability to work “hands on” with engineering instrumentation and devices.

  • Working knowledge of Labview, a circuit simulator such as Spice or Multisim, and mathematical software such as MATLAB or equivalent.

  • Ability to program in a high-level, general-purpose computer languages such as C/C++ and Python.

  • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of values-based education from a Christian perspective.

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Bonus:

  • Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, or similar, from a regionally accredited institution.  

  • 3-5 years of industry experience and computer engineering teaching experience.

  • Familiarity with higher education, curriculum planning, best teaching and administrative practices; and a record of excellence in teaching.

  • Understanding of the various methods of adult learning.
