Learn Academy Arizona/Desert Choice Schools is looking for a School Based  BCBA for our location in South Phoenix, AZ.

Responsibilities

  • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings
  • 75% of time should be in direct interactions with staff and students, 25% of time should be all other tasks
  • Coaching and training classroom staff and track levels trainings for all staff.
  • Supervise data collection, create data sheets, evaluate data regularly
  • Completing functional behavioral assessments when necessary
  • Develop behavior plans and protocols
  • Deliver and assist in staff training of behavior plans and protocols
  • Develop behavior, social IEP goals and collaborate on VB goals with classroom teacher at least 2 days in advance of the due date to the Director’s timeline
  • Report progress on goals and provide graphs for behavior goals to classroom teacher at least 2 days in advance of due date to the Director’s timeline
  • Develop data sheets for behavior, social, or VB goals in collaboration with classroom teacher or other professionals
  • Collect, graph and interpret behavior data
  • Assist in conducting assessments
  • Regularly update students data books in collaboration with classroom teacher
  • Complete staff performance reviews per Directors
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed
  • Complete and review incident reports, report to Directors when necessary
  • Maintain communication with other DCS Professionals, SLP’s, SLP-A’s, ADL Specialists, OT’s and any other professional per the Directors
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Directors
  • Act in a manner consistent with Desert Choice Schools, mission, values and policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree
  • BCBA Certificate & License
  • State of Arizona BA license
  • First Aid Certification
  • IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Must have strong positive communication and interpersonal skills – works well with parents, children and other professionals
  • Maintain requirements set forth by the BACB and State of Arizona Board of Psychology
  • Attend trainings per the Directors                                 
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs; employees must be able to bend, stretch, reach, twist, walk, run and stand for an extended period of time.

Knowledge/Ability/Skills:

  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Speaking formally when communicating all types of information including discussing IEP goals, behavior plans and incidents with parents and providing feedback to staff.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.
  • Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
  • Teaching others how to do something.
  • Actively looking for ways to help people.
  • Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions.
  • Managing one's own time and the time of others.
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Children's educational software including AAC devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and record data. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work in a face-paced, loud environment
