Description

The primary role of the Operations Supervisor is to supervise the day-to-day activities of the operations staff.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Supervise the staff and collections of refuse and recycling for an assigned area.

2. Ensure the adherence of company work and safety rules.

3. Maintain a safe working environment for all employees by creating and supporting a safety-first culture.

4. Work in conjunction with customers, ownership, maintenance, customer service, dispatch and sustainability

departments to ensure seamless customer interactions.

5. Use related computer systems to track and improve routing, productivity and customer experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of:

• Superior supervisory techniques.

• Refuse, recycling and composting-related services and tools.

• Modern office practices and procedures including the use of standard computer programs such as Tower,

  Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Search Engines, Onboard Routing System and Google Maps.

• Geography of the City of Casa Grande and surrounding areas, including assigned route.

• Leadership and mentorship tactics and best practices.

Ability to:

• Actively listen to, and empathize with, customer and employees’ concerns.

• Employ de-escalation and conflict-resolution methodologies.

• Mentor and maintain a positive attitude with customers and employees.

• Proactively establish trust and credibility with customers and employees by maintaining accountability.

• Contribute to the team dynamic by promoting inclusion, support and collaboration amongst employees.

• Take initiative, self-manage time and productivity through multitasking.

• Effectively and concisely communicate both orally and in writing.

•Learn the products and services offered by Universal Waste Systems, Inc.

•Provide guidance and expert advice on waste-related information.

Education, Training & Experience

1.Four years of supervisory experience in the waste and/or recycling industry required.

2.Current and valid Class D license with clean driving record; class B a plus.

3.High school diploma/GED preferred.
