Position Overview

The Preservation Material Applicator is a key field role responsible for applying pavement preservation materials safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards.

This position plays an essential role in ensuring project success by maintaining proper application techniques, supporting safe work zones, and contributing to overall crew productivity.

Key Responsibilities

Material Application & Quality

  • Apply sealcoat, slurry, and other preservation materials using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Ensure consistent coverage, proper thickness, and high-quality application
  • Monitor material conditions and adjust application methods as needed
  • Perform surface preparation tasks, including cleaning, edging, and minor repairs

Equipment & Worksite Operations

  • Conduct routine equipment checks and basic maintenance to ensure proper operation
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and handling materials, tools, and equipment
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites at the end of each shift

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain safe work zones in accordance with traffic control plans
  • Follow all flagging procedures and safety protocols to protect crew members and the public
  • Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
  • Adhere to all company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements

Team Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with crew members, equipment operators, and supervisors
  • Support team operations and assist with additional tasks as needed
  • Adapt to changing job site conditions and priorities
