Primary Work Location: This position supports multiple Cardea Health Interim Housing Programs and requires regular travel between assigned locations. Cardea's interim housing programs provide temporary housing, stabilization services, clinical support, care coordination, case management, and connections to permanent housing opportunities for individuals experiencing homelessness. Employees in these roles should expect frequent collaboration with residents, healthcare providers, social service agencies, community partners, and multidisciplinary teams. Job Summary: The Maintenance Technician independently performs a wide range of maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance activities across Cardea Health properties. Working under the direction of the Facilities Manager, this position helps maintain safe, functional, and welcoming environments for residents and staff. The Maintenance Technician diagnoses problems, completes repairs within scope, coordinates with vendors when needed, responds to urgent maintenance issues, and provides guidance to Maintenance Associates and other junior facilities staff. This role will travel using their personal vehicle between sites as needed. About the Role:Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Keep all rooms, common facilities, and other areas functional and in good repair Perform cleaning activities such as dusting, mopping, etc Perform basic plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, sinks, shutoff valves, and drain issues. Perform drywall repairs including patching, texturing, finishing, and minor wall reconstruction. Complete, document, and close work orders in the MaintainX maintenance management system. Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls, etc. Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues Install appliances and equipment Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and service providers while ensuring quality and completion of assigned work. Do garden/yard upkeep by mowing lawn, collecting trash etc. Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation) Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm) Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations Provide guidance, training, and support to Maintenance Associates and other entry-level facilities staff. May be required to work occasional weekends or after-hours Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old Valid California Driver License with an acceptable driving record Reliable personal vehicle available for travel between Cardea Health locations Current automobile insurance Must be at least 18 years old At least three years of related experience in maintenance Proven experience as a skilled maintenance person Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively Professionalism, integrity, and a proactive approach to problem-solving Strong critical thinking and problems solving skills Have a passion for serving marginalized populations Flexibility to work outside regular business hours as needed Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with people experiencing homelessness preferred Electrical, plumbing, or construction experience preferred Physical Requirements This position requires significant mobility and regular presence within program environments. Essential physical activities may include: Frequent standing and walking throughout housing sites. Responding to program or participant needs in various environments. Navigating stairways, hallways, outdoor spaces, and community settings. Assisting with program operations, room preparation, supply movement, or emergency response activities. Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and crouching. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. Work Environment: Cardea Health program locations operate within supportive housing, interim housing, medical respite, and community-based environments serving individuals experiencing homelessness and other vulnerable populations.
