Journeyman Electrician
A journeyman electrician’s primary responsibilities are to install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems. Their training and work experience allow them to professionally analyze and detect electrical problems in homes and businesses. They often work with technicians and engineers and should know how to work with indoor and outdoor electrical components, with a focus on industrial environments.Â

Roles and ResponsibilitiesÂ
The job duties and responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:Â Â
- Perform all electrical tasks with general supervisionÂ
- Terminate and install electrical cablesÂ
- Troubleshoot equipment failures using a variety of metersÂ
- Read blueprints, schematics, and diagramsÂ
- Perform electrical tests, read results and diagnose and repair electrical problemsÂ
- Thorough knowledge of various circuitsÂ
- Installing or repairing faulty equipment, wiring, or control devices Performing preventative maintenance on variable frequency drives (VFD’s), motors, pumps, generators, etc.Â
RequirementsÂ
Must be adept at performing a wide variety of skills, including:Â
- Must have a valid South Dakota Journeyman LicenseÂ
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overheadÂ
- Regularly lift 51 pounds Â
- Constantly moving your feetÂ
- Climb ladders (all types)Â
- Ability to identify wires accurately Â
- Candidate must be able to meet company vehicle insurance requirements. Â

- No driver may have any major convictions within the last 5 year periodÂ
- Drivers 25 or older: May have no more than 3 moving violations or one accident and one violation in the last 3 yearsÂ
- Drivers 21-24: May have no more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 yearsÂ
