Ophthalmic Technician
Full Time – 80 hours/pay

8:00AM – 5:00PM M-F
Scheurer Health, is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Technician.Â
Responsibilities:
- Perform various tests and procedures to evaluate the patient’s vision and eye health
- Measure visual acuity and test eye muscle function
- Administer eye drops to dilate pupils
- Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment
- Prepare patients for surgery and assist with pre- and post-operative care instructions
- Schedule surgeries and coordinate with surgical teams to ensure timely procedures
- Obtain prior authorizations and manage referrals for surgical and specialty care
- Communicate with patients regarding appointment details, insurance approvals, and follow-up instructions
- Provide patient education on eye care, medications, and treatment options
- Assist ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating eye diseases and disorders
- Document patient information and test results accurately in the electronic medical record
- Ensure patient comfort and safety during procedures
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited ophthalmic technician program
- Certification as an ophthalmic technician (COT) preferred
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Experience with ophthalmic equipment and procedures
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
