Function:

The University of Pikeville (UPIKE) is seeing a HVAC Technician to perform operations of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for all campus facilities. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, and maintain HVAC equipment and perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration and air conditioning equipment as well as work with pneumatic and electronic controls. 
  • Fabricate and install various sizes, shapes and lengths of ductwork to support maintenance, and construction projects.
  • Must balance air flow systems. Adapt and size new ducts to accept hydronic heating and cooling coils with pneumatic controls and electronic controls.
  • Diagnose problems, consider alternative solutions, and select and implement the most effective solution without close supervision.
  • Assist with general maintenance repairs and perform preventative maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Assist in the maintenance of campus grounds, including painting, pressure washing, etc.
  • Provide support for events held on campus by clubs, organizations, committees, etc.
  • Maintains records and reports of work status and completion according to established deadlines and expectations.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education/Skill Requirements:

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and four years of appropriate experience in HVAC related work is required.
  • Possession of a journeyman or master HVAC license is required.
  • General working knowledge of HVAC distribution and mechanical codes is required.
  • General mechanical skills and some electrical experience is required.
  • Requires the ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
