JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Marketing Department and Professor Zhong are seeking a research assistant (RA) to work up to 10 hours per week from April through December.

 

We are looking for a current Penn State student with a background in computer science and programming. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in web scraping, processing unstructured data (both text and images), and experience with modeling techniques such as machine learning. Compensation will be consistent with Penn State’s standard rates.

Job Duties:

  • Develop and maintain web scraping scripts to collect data from various online sources

  • Clean, organize, and process structured and unstructured datasets (e.g., text and images)

  • Apply machine learning models to analyze data

  • Collaborate with faculty and graduate students to support ongoing research projects

  • Document code, workflows, and findings in a clear and reproducible manner
