Position Summary

As a FirstHealth Emergency Medicine Pharmacist, you will serve as a highly visible and integral member of the multidisciplinary team. This is a true bedside clinical role –  allowing you to focus on direct patient care, critical interventions, and high-impact clinical work.

In this position, you will work side-by-side with emergency physicians, nurses, and other providers in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. You will have significant opportunities to drive process improvement initiatives that enhance medication safety, workflow efficiency, and patient outcomes across the emergency department and health system.

 

The Opportunity: FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital (MRH) is a 402-bed flagship hospital featuring a 40-bed emergency department (expandable to 47 beds with hallway spaces) that sees more than 60,000 patients annually. Located in beautiful Pinehurst, North Carolina, MRH serves as the primary referral center for six counties and a secondary referral center for 15 counties total.
In addition to MRH, the health system includes three additional campuses (MRH-Richmond, MRH-Hoke, and Montgomery Memorial Hospital), all of which provide emergency services. While primarily based at MRH, occasional support may be provided to other system sites.

 

 


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
•  Respond to code blues and other emergencies throughout the hospital
•  Actively participate in medication preparation and management of high-risk patients, including STEMI, acute ischemic        stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, rapid sequence intubation, and procedural sedation
•  Provide comprehensive clinical services such as pharmacokinetic dosing of antimicrobials and anticoagulants, culture          follow-up on discharged patients, and other targeted interventions
•  Lead and contribute to process improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing emergency medicine pharmacy services
•  Oversee medication reconciliation technicians and perform final review of home medication lists
•  Precept and mentor PGY1 and PGY2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residents
•  Provide care for both adult and pediatric patients

 

 


Qualifications

Qualifications:
• Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy
•  Licensed or eligible for licensure in North Carolina
•  PGY1 Pharmacy Practice residency or equivalent hospital experience required
•  PGY2 residency training in Emergency Medicine and/or Critical Care preferred
