Job Summary

The Line Cook – Pool Café is responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality menu items for the club’s Pool Café and supporting pool food service operations. Reporting to the Executive Sous Chef, this position ensures that all food is prepared according to the club’s standards for quality, consistency, presentation, and timeliness. The Line Cook works closely with the culinary and pool service teams to maintain efficient kitchen operations, proper sanitation, and a positive guest experience in a fast-paced outdoor dining environment.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare, cook, and plate menu items for Pool CafĂ© service according to recipes and presentation standards.
  • Maintain efficient food production during high-volume pool and seasonal service periods.
  • Ensure food orders are completed accurately and in a timely manner for poolside guests and members.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of Pool CafĂ© kitchen stations, prep areas, and storage areas.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
  • Assist with receiving, storing, labeling, and rotating food inventory to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
  • Communicate effectively with culinary staff and pool service staff to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
  • Support opening and closing procedures, including cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment and work areas.
  • Monitor food quality and notify supervisors of inventory shortages or equipment concerns.
  • Maintain a professional, positive, and team-oriented attitude while assisting other culinary team members as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to improve culinary skills and operational knowledge.

Work Environment

  • Works primarily in the Pool CafĂ© kitchen and outdoor food service areas.
  • Fast-paced environment, especially during summer months, weekends, holidays, and peak pool hours.
  • Exposure to heat, humidity, noise, and kitchen equipment.
  • Frequent interaction with culinary staff, pool service staff, members, and guests.
  • Schedule may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout kitchen and pool service areas for extended periods.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, and moving of food products, supplies, and kitchen equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Manual dexterity to safely operate kitchen tools, appliances, and equipment.
  • Ability to work safely in hot indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Must maintain focus and stamina during high-volume service periods.

Education and Experience (Required and Preferred)

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of culinary or food service experience preferred.
  • Experience in a pool cafĂ©, resort, private club, or casual dining environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques, food safety, and sanitation practices required.
  • ServSafe certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient workspace.
