BASIC FUNCTION:

The Value Stream Supervisor is a key part of the CP&S team.  This position is responsible for leading the execution of breakthrough operational improvement activities under the direction of the Plant Manager. The role is a developmental assignment for a high potential individual.  They will be expected to utilize lean manufacturing techniques to improve the bottom line of the business while learning to supervise hourly associates.  The position will supervise direct and indirect labor associated with the value stream.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Manage and develop a strong manufacturing team by embracing Crane’s Intellectual Capital process and promoting the company’s core value
  • Assist in assigning staff to meet departmental goals and support production to meet OTD
  • Participate/lead the Gemba cadences including weekly Gemba walk and startup/standup meetings
  • Analyze, understand and track Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) daily. Develop/implement methods, procedures, and systems to improve service, cost, quality, and safety performance
  • Ensure 5S standards are adhered to in area
  • Recognize and reward positive contributions of employees
  • Exercise the Company’s progressive discipline policies when applicable and documents actions accordingly
  • Ensure proper use of IATF tools including Process Flow Charts, Control Plans, PFMEAs, SPC, and MSA
  • Participate in the Intellectual capital process.  Lead the intellectual capital process for their direct reports within the value stream and participate through personal involvement in development
  • Other duties as assigned
  • In addition to standard supervisory activities, the Value Stream Supervisor will:
    • Assume accountability for the value stream (Inventory through customer delivery)
    • Document the current state, develop the future state, and track steps to achieve the future state.
    • Lead the associated value stream to implement FFV and continuous improvement through regular cadence of activities/kaizens (Facilitate, lead, and participate as needed to ensure success)

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications:

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Analytical skills and understanding of problem solving techniques/tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor and coach
  • Ability to travel
  • State issued driver’s license

Knowledge:

  • Proficiency with key PC software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
  • Process Improvement experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work effectively with Senior Leadership
  • Track record of driving lean initiatives in operations
  • Demonstrated ability to work through ambiguity and change

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred
