Job Summary
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Sanitation Manager leads sanitation operations at an assigned Snack Innovations manufacturing facility in Piscataway, New Jersey.
This role is built for someone who can lead Sanitation Techs across shifts, maintain consistent cleaning and verification standards, resolve sanitation failures, and ensure the facility remains safe, sanitary, audit-ready, and prepared for production start-up.
Core Responsibilities
Sanitation Program Leadership
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve sanitation effectiveness, reduce recurring deficiencies, and strengthen team performance
- Own and execute the master sanitation schedule, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), and daily sanitation plans
- Ensure production equipment, food contact surfaces, facility areas, and support spaces are cleaned and sanitized to established standards
- Coordinate sanitation timing with Production and Maintenance to support safe, efficient changeovers and on-time start-up
- Maintain accurate sanitation records, chemical logs, inspections, and corrective action documentation
聽Food Safety & Verification
- Partner with Quality and Food Safety to verify sanitation effectiveness through pre-operational inspections and microbiological results
- Validate and periodically revalidate sanitation procedures following new equipment, new products, or recurring verification failures
- Investigate sanitation failures and implement corrective actions that address root causes and prevent recurrence
- Support the facility鈥檚 environmental monitoring program and related corrective actions, as required
- Own sanitation audit readiness, records, and corrective actions while supporting Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), BRCGS Food Safety, SQF, customer, and regulatory audits
- Oversee pest control coordination, waste handling, and other sanitation-related prerequisite programs as assigned
聽Team Leadership & Execution
- Lead, schedule, train, and develop Sanitation Techs and other assigned sanitation team members across shifts
- Set clear performance expectations and hold the team accountable for safety, quality, completion, and start-up readiness
- Ensure staffing and labor are aligned with production schedules, deep-cleaning requirements, and special projects
- Build a culture of urgency, ownership, and consistent execution without compromising employee or food safety
聽Chemical, Equipment & Safety Management
- Manage sanitation chemicals, concentrations, inventories, dispensing systems, tools, and cleaning equipment
- Ensure employees follow Safety Data Sheet (SDS), Hazard Communication, chemical handling, personal protective equipment, lockout/tagout, confined space, and other applicable safety requirements
- Partner with Maintenance to improve hygienic design, equipment access, and cleanability
- Manage sanitation supplies and outside service providers while controlling cost and maintaining required standards
- Manage inventory and order PPE, waste bags, chemicals, and other sanitation supplies
Qualifications路聽 聽 聽 聽 聽
- Minimum of five years of sanitation experience in food manufacturing, including a minimum of two years leading sanitation teams
- Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)-based programs, allergen controls, environmental monitoring, and food plant sanitation
- Experience with sanitation chemicals, chemical concentration control, cleaning equipment, and verification methods
- Working knowledge of BRCGS, SQF, or another GFSI-recognized food safety standard preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead overnight or off-shift teams in a fast-paced production environment
- Strong planning, problem-solving, training, and documentation skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and respond to sanitation or production-readiness issues as needed
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
