Student and Academic Education Programs, with Educational Activities, is looking for an undergraduate student who is passionate about writing for print, web and social media,  and who is detail-oriented and comfortable with multi-tasking. 

This position is eligible for a 12-week full-time summer internship. We will allow some flexibility around the daily and weekly schedule, and some opportunity for remote work on occasion.

The intern will also take part in IEEE’s formal summer intern training program, with additional opportunity for education and mentorship.  The intern will greatly increase their network and knowledge of potential career paths by the conclusion of the internship. Opportunities for professional growth and impact are practically limitless for a highly motivated intern.

Essential Duties

With the significant number of projects happening in IEEE Educational Activities, this is an exciting opportunity to acquire hands-on experience. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Updating and maintaining contacts databases for multiple programs.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of marketing materials.
  • Editing and proofreading copy, publications and websites.
  • Produce and disseminate content for social media: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.
  • Write content for the website, blogs, and newsletters.
  • Other duties as assigned, which may include administrative tasks in the office.

 



 Qualifications 

  • Degree (or pursuing degree) in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, etc.
  • Available to work part time in summer 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of initiative and motivation
  • Technically savvy, with expertise with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel, as well as Google suite of tools and web-based programs
  • Video editing skills
  • Experience using social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks
