Description

We are looking for courteous, customer-focused Deli Associates who are committed to providing customers with the best service possible. Deli Associates will clean, prepare workstations and displays, answer questions and respond to customer requests, and provide information to clients to ensure that they select the products that best fit their needs. To succeed as a Deli Associate, you should be polite, prompt, and knowledgeable.

Additionally, you should be able to meet the physical demands of the position while providing customers with the best possible experience.

A Service Deli Associate is responsible for handling, serving, and making ready to eat food products while interacting with customers to make sales.

Respond to customer queries, make product recommendations and provide samples
Help customers locate, choose and buy products
Weigh, label, package and make products ready for billing and delivery
Stock and organize displays and showcases
Clean the work areas and maintain tools and equipment
Coordinate with other staff in following food safety and hygiene procedures according to company policy
Ensure prompt service and high level of customer satisfaction

Requirements

Organized with a high attention to detail, consistently follows through on commitments
Demonstrates the ability to handle multiple demands
Communications skills – clear directions, good listener
Experience serving the public
Ability to project friendly, outgoing personality
Prolonged standing, walking, squatting, and/or bending
Ability to lift heavy boxes frequently up to 40 pounds and occasionally team lifting to 75 pounds
Repetitive use - hand to finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms
Must be able to adjust vision to both day and night lighting and be able to focus on distant and close-range projects
Ability to walk and stand for long periods
Ability to work in cold, wet conditions
Ability to read and interpret documents such as department manuals and reports
Ability to prioritize work tasks, multi-task, and maintain focus
Willingness to work weekends
Regular, predictable attendance
Willingness and ability to learn and grow to meet the changing requirements of the job
Evening/night work may be required
Occasional high stress when dealing with systems/customers/staff
Ability to work a flexible schedule to include a variety of shifts -- afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays
Ability to have a positive attitude always
Understand key business standards related to food, service, and cleanliness
Problem solving – Anticipating, analyzing, and identifying problems
Continuously interacting with customers and co-workers
Must be a self-starter in all aspects of your job
Good communication skills
Knowledge of various cleaning products and when to use them
Ability to clean and disinfect various surfaces
Knowledge of safety guidelines when working with chemical cleaners

Assist other customers in all departments, in prompt friendly courteous manger, referring them to other staff when necessary
Maintain department logs, cleaning schedules, safety materials, and inventory document
Must have basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures
Have knowledge fresh food products and ability to reference customer questions
Performs duties in a safe and efficient manner
Participates in training activities to increase personal skill levels, and to improve overall department processes and customer service
Perform other tasks assigned by management
