Job Summary
Allyjiri Homes is seeking compassionate, dependable, and energetic Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support youth in a safe, structured, and nurturing residential environment.

As a DSP, you will help residents build independence, confidence, life skills, and positive behaviors while providing supervision, encouragement, and assistance with daily activities.

Responsibilities 

  • Provide direct supervision, support, and guidance to youth in a safe, structured, and nurturing residential environment.
  • Assist residents with daily living skills, including personal hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, housekeeping, and organization.
  • Encourage independence, self-confidence, appropriate social skills, and positive decision-making.
  • Implement each resident’s individualized service, behavioral, and support plans as directed.
  • Support residents with community outings, recreational activities, appointments, school, and other approved activities.
  • Use positive reinforcement, redirection, and approved de-escalation techniques when responding to challenging behaviors.
  • Observe residents for changes in behavior, health, mood, or safety and promptly report concerns to appropriate supervisory staff.
  • Assist with medication-related responsibilities as authorized, trained, and required by facility policy.
  • Complete accurate and timely daily documentation, progress notes, incident reports, medication records, and other required records.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and protect residents’ privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and personal rights.
  • Follow all facility policies, emergency procedures, mandated reporting requirements, and applicable licensing regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe residential environment.
  • Communicate professionally with residents, coworkers, supervisors, families, social workers, Regional Center personnel, and other members of the resident’s support team.
  • Participate in required staff meetings, training, supervision, and continuing education.
  • Transport residents when authorized and ensure their safety during community activities and appointments.
  • Perform other duties necessary to support the health, safety, development, and overall well-being of residents.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred; additional education or experience in human services, behavioral health, child development, social services, or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Must possess the education, training, experience, and personal qualifications necessary to perform assigned duties and provide appropriate care and supervision to residents.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, individuals with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism, behavioral challenges, or other special needs is strongly preferred.
  • Must successfully complete all required criminal background clearance and/or exemption requirements before having unsupervised contact with residents, as applicable.
  • Must meet applicable Community Care Licensing personnel and health-screening requirements, including required health/TB documentation.
  • Must obtain and maintain current First Aid and CPR certification as required for the position.
  • Must complete all required orientation, initial training, continuing education, and facility-specific training within required timeframes.
  • Must complete required training related to resident/client rights, mandated reporting, abuse prevention, emergency procedures, infection control, medication assistance, behavioral support, documentation, and health and safety as applicable to assigned duties.
  • Must be able to understand and properly implement residents’ Individual Program Plans (IPP), Needs and Services Plans, behavioral support plans, emergency plans, and other individualized service requirements.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to use positive behavioral supports, redirection, de-escalation, and other approved intervention techniques.
  • Must be able to maintain accurate, complete, confidential, and timely documentation.
  • Must demonstrate good judgment, reliability, patience, professionalism, and the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with residents.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with residents, coworkers, supervisors, families, social workers, Regional Center representatives, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Must comply with mandated reporter responsibilities and immediately report suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, or other reportable incidents as required by law and facility policy.
  • Must be physically and mentally capable of performing assigned duties and responding appropriately during emergencies.
  • If driving residents is an assigned responsibility, must possess a valid California driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and any required vehicle/insurance documentation.
  • Must maintain all required certifications, clearances, and training throughout employment.
  • Must be willing to work assigned schedules, which may include days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts.
  • Must comply with Allyjiri Homes policies and all applicable California Title 17, Title 22, CCL, Regional Center, and resident-rights requirements.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred.
