Your Impact: 

WNA is seeking an experienced and motivated Commissioning Engineer/Agent to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an expert in commissioning, with the proven ability to lead and contribute to projects in a way that drives our mission and vision. Serving as the Commissioning Engineer/Agent, you will commit to visiting jobsites as needed and working collaboratively with our Project Managers. The Commissioning Engineer/Agent will report to the Vice President of Engineering. This opportunity is available at either the Pittsburgh or Portersville office (Butler County).

 Commissioning Engineer/Agent Priorities

  • Lead and manage the overall commissioning processes and commissioning team
  • Develop, update and maintain project commissioning plans, schedules and commissioning workflows
  • Review, approve, and manage commissioning plans, procedures, checklists, and related documentation
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with contractors, engineers and project management teams
  • Review equipment and systems submittals for commissioning related requirements
  • Conduct commissioning team meetings and participate in design reviews
  • Perform field inspections to verify compliance with Construction Documents and provide corresponding reports
  • Track and log commissioning issues, deficiencies and corrective actions
  • Develop, witness and document functional test procedures
  • Collaborate with engineers and contractors to troubleshoot system issues
  • Verify completion of owner training and ensure training documentation is provided
  • Validate pre-functional checklists, start-up documentation and system readiness for testing
  • Support review of control sequences and integration testing (BAS/controls)
  • Conduct seasonal or deferred testing as required

Here's What You'll Need

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience through practical work as a Controls Technician or HVAC Tradesman, and
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in building commissioning through various markets (commercial, industrial, schools, healthcare, etc.)
  • Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong verbal and written technical and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with owners and key project partners
  • Experience with ASHRAE, BCxA, and/or PECI Cx and RETRO-Cx procedures and protocols a plus
  • Excellent technical and analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and make sound engineering judgements
  • Valid driver’s license and willing to travel at least 50% of the work week
  • Solid understanding of work site safety risks and adherence to appropriate protocols
  • Physical requirements: Must be able to climb staircases, climb/carry ladders, walk narrow walkways, crouch, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
