Flight Dynamics Test Engineer

REMOTE

Pay Estimated: $92.64-$97.64/Hour

 

 

As a Flight Dynamics (FD) Test Engineer, you will support our nation’s missile defense initiatives by leading system-level integration, verification, and validation of flight dynamics capabilities within a complex, COTS-based Common Ground Enterprise (CGE) environment.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support CGE integration of Flight Dynamics (FD) capabilities
  • Integrate and test COTS Flight Dynamics tools, including a.i.Solutions FreeFlyer / Meridian or similar products
  • Perform system-level integration, verification, and validation (IV&V) across:
  • Flight Dynamics (FD)
  • Command & Control (C2)
  • Mission Planning (MP)
  • Planning & Scheduling (P&S)
  • Ground Resource Management (GRM)
  • Network Management (NM)
  • Fire Control Element (FCE)
  • Develop system test procedures, execute integration testing, and verify requirements through system-level validation
  • Integrate and validate Orbit Determination (OD) and Orbit Monitoring (OM) pipelines delivered by a.i.Solutions
  • Work with CCSDS orbital message standards, including:
  • Orbit Parameter Message (OPM)
  • Orbit Ephemeris Message (OEM)
  • Orbit Mean-Elements Message (OMM)
  • Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to integration and test (I&T) for verification and validation
  • Develop and execute automated test scripts, including C2-related automation
  • Support STTC (S-band) RF testing and integration
  • Own test and system engineering activities “cradle to grave” on a fast-paced system design and integration program

 

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics (STEM) field OR Master’s degree in a related field
  • Experience
    • 8+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree OR 6+ years with a Master’s degree
  • Core Technical Experience
    • System-level integration, verification, and validation (V&V) of complex ground and space systems
    • Flight Dynamics (FD) system testing and integration
    • COTS-based system integration in mission or safety-critical environments
    • Test procedure development, requirement verification, and system validation
    • CCSDS interoperability standards (OPM, OEM, OMM)
    • MBSE-driven test and integration workflows
    • Automated test scripting, including C2 interfaces
  • Methodologies
    • Agile development and test environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Integration experience with Space-to-Ground and Ground-to-Antenna architectures for CGE COTS-based C2 systems
  • Prior space command or operational experience
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • a.i.Solutions FreeFlyer / Meridian
    • Python
    • InfluxDB, Kafka, Redis
    • Kubernetes & microservice architectures
    • Cloud platforms (AWS, Red Hat OpenStack Platform – RHOSP)
    • Security integration
  • Lab or operational COTS integration experience working closely with systems engineering teams
  • Knowledge of antenna build-out, antenna operations, and interfaces, including Ground Entry Point (GEP) as a Service
  • Work Environment
    • On-site integration and test support as required to Pittsburgh, PA and/or Scottsdale, AZ
