The School also provides vital early intervention and outreach services to visually impaired students, with or without additional challenges, throughout western Pennsylvania. Founded in 1887, our School is best equipped to care for and educate students with visual impairments. As a private institution chartered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the School educates approximately 200 enrolled students from 80-85 school districts within western Pennsylvania. Position Overview: The Housekeeper provides cleaning and janitorial type services for the School to ensure a hygienic and safe educational / dormitory environment. Position Information: FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Schedule: Daylight (Monday-Friday from 7a-3p) Evening (Sunday-Thursday from 3p-11p) Overnight (Sunday-Thursday from 11p-7a) Working Days: Year-round position Pay: $18/hr Job Responsibilities: Thoroughly cleans restrooms, classrooms, therapy areas, common areas, dorms, dining areas, hallways, stairwells, and offices as assigned by performing duties such as mopping/waxing floors, vacuuming carpets, spot cleaning carpet stains, dusting, cleaning windows. Maintains lighting in assigned areas. Moves furniture as needed. Reports on all needed repairs. Drive school vehicles as assigned. Maintains grounds, including snow removal. Assists with room set ups, transportation, and maintenance as needed. Follows assigned schedule without the need for frequent reminders. Demonstrate reliable, dependable, and prompt work ethic such as good attendance record and ready to work at start of shift. Utilizes safe lifting techniques. Takes initiative to assist others when own duties are complete. Receptive to receiving direction and constructive criticism. Working Conditions: 40-hour onsite work week with opportunity for overtime work Bending, kneeling, stooping and lifting on a frequent basis Pushing, pulling and grasping on a regular basis Lifting and moving furniture on a regular basis Lifting bags of salt Walking and standing during most of shift Climbing ladders and scaffolding Assisting with students in emergency situations, including lifting Working outside in all types of weather Visually surveying work area for areas in specific need of attention Reading printed materials Verbal and written communication Completing written documentation Sending and receiving e-mail An Equal Opportunity Employer QualificationsQualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent Valid Driver’s license preferred Previous experience as a housekeeper preferred Must hold and maintain proper clearances for Acts 34, 114, and 151.
