The Development Coordinator supports Animal Friends’ vision of a humane and compassionate future for every animal friend. As part of our core values we are Solution-Driven, Resourceful and Compassionate; driven by Integrity; and committed to Excellence.

We’re looking for a driven, people-focused Development Coordinator who thrives on building connections, spotting opportunities, and making things happen. This isn’t a behind-the-scenes-only role—you’ll be front and center in creating meaningful donor experiences, growing community engagement, and fueling the fundraising engine that supports our life-saving work.

You’ll join a collaborative, mission-driven team that celebrates big ideas, supports each other, and knows how to rally around a cause. If you love fast-paced environments, connecting with people, and seeing the direct results of your work, you’ll fit right in.

What You’ll Do

  • Build authentic, lasting relationships with donors through calls, emails, and in-person engagement—including tours that bring our mission to life
  • Be a key player in delivering an outstanding donor experience, from first gift to long-term engagement
  • Own and manage donor data systems, turning information into actionable insights and compelling reports
  • Lead coordination of Tribute & Memorial Gifts and energize our Recurring Giving/Circle of Friends program
  • Help drive Peer-to-Peer fundraising efforts that expand our reach and activate new supporters
  • Partner with the Grant Writer to keep momentum strong through timely and accurate grant reporting
  • Gain valuable experience with the creation and submission of certain grants with the guidance of the grant writer
  • Support donor outreach efforts—helping secure gifts, pledges, and deeper engagement
  • Spot opportunities to grow giving and bring fresh, creative ideas to the table
  • Track and monitor revenue streams, helping ensure fundraising goals stay on target
  • Create clear, engaging reports and presentations that showcase impact and progress
  • Support and inspire volunteers and interns, helping them feel connected to the mission
  • Help support events, in partnership with our Special Events Manager, including our signature Black Tie & Tails Gala, bringing energy and teamwork to every detail
  • Pitch in across the Development team—because big impact takes all of us working together

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills and a natural ability to connect with people
  • A proactive, go-getter mindset—you don’t wait for direction, you look for ways to contribute
  • A passion for delivering exceptional experiences and building relationships that last
  • Comfort juggling multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • A team-first attitude with the confidence to take initiative
  • Thoughtfulness, discretion, and emotional intelligence when working with donors
  • Openness to embrace new and emerging technology and data analysis
  • A genuine commitment to equity, inclusion, and welcoming diverse perspectives
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or a minimum of five years of relevant experience
  • 3+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience preferred
  • Experience with Bloomerang or similar CRM systems
  • Reliable transportation and ability to work onsite regularly, with occasional local travel
  • Flexibility for evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events, including the Black Tie & Tails Gala
  • A deep passion for the mission of Animal Friends, Inc.
