UPMC Shadyside, a Magnet designated hospital, is currently hiring a Full-Time Cardiopulmonary Rehab Nurse.

Position Overview: 

The Cardiopulmonary Rehab Nurse will cover and assist with immediate responsibilities for the daily operations pertaining to the delivery of inpatient and/or out-patient Cardiac, Pulmonary, and Vascular Rehabs. The Cardiopulmonary Rehab nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individual and group exercise and education programs.  In the inpatient environment, The Cardiopulmonary Rehab Nurse will further be responsible for ambulating/mobilizing patients and providing relevant patient education. 

Schedule: Monday through Friday, daylight hours, with the occasional inpatient weekend rotation. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide compassionate, patient-focused care, building strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.

  • Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions; develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

  • Educate patients and families on care plans, treatments, and safe transitions.

  • Assist with inpatient and outpatient discharge planning and respond to emergencies as needed.

  • Communicate effectively with care teams and contribute to patient care decisions.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and use evidence-based practice to enhance outcomes.

  • Engage in professional development, mentoring, and shared governance to support team growth.

  • Promote a safe, healthy, and culturally aware work environment while maintaining work-life balance.



  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience. 
  • Graduate of an approved school for registered nurses. 

     


    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
     

  • Exercise Specialist Certification or CEP preferred

     

  • C

    PR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

     

  • Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Act 34

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
