We're searching for a Manager, Human Resources to join our UPMC Physician Services Human Resources team! This position offers a weekly, hybrid work environment and requires regular travel to the Harrisburg region.

The Manager, Human Resources will lead a team of employee relations professionals that support a variety of leaders within the Physician Services Division. They’ll build and maintain a valued advisor relationship with all leaders by understanding front line issues as well as strategic business objectives. Additionally, they’ll provide day-to-day management and supervision to the employee relations team, as well as ensure that all employment-related decisions are made in compliance with federal, state, and local laws as well as JCAHO and other regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic business partner that works collaboratively with other organizational leaders to work through current HR and business situations. 
  • Act as a role model of service by consistently delivering thought -out, sound, quality HR and business solutions that meet customer demands and are proactive in scope, and accessible in nature.
  • Establish and foster a professional climate, dedicated to supporting the mission, vision, values, and goals of the organization by providing value-added world class service delivery.
  • Select, train, and supervise a staff of highly functional human resources professionals who are actively engaged in furthering organizational goals through strategic partnerships.
  • Consult on HR and business strategy, with an emphasis on improving, influencing, and challenging the status quo.
  • Manage and participate on local and/or organization wide committees that focus on projects that move the organization forward and toward meeting organization goals. 
  • Develop staff toward their identified and desired next career step.
  • Promote an overall positive employee experience. Strive for active employee engagement and identify ways to retain employees on an individual level.
  • Effectively communicate expectations with business, operational, and HR partners while promoting a One Team 


  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or related field and at least five years of employee relations experience, including two years of prior progressive leadership experience required.
    • OR High School Diploma/GED and eight years of employee relations experience required.
    • Master's degree preferred.
  • Formal leadership experience is preferred.

     


    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
     

  • PHR, SPHR certification, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP certification or UPMC HCI Strategic HR Business Partner Certification required within the first 12 months of hire for external candidates. Internal applicants within UPMC HR are required to have the certification requirements in place to be considered for promotional opportunities.
