UPMC Presbyterian is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor to lead our Central Operations team and support safe, efficient inpatient medication distribution. In this role, you will oversee medication preparation, nonsterile compounding, automation‑supported workflows, and the daily processes that ensure accurate and reliable pharmacy service across the hospital. You will work collaboratively with pharmacy leaders to maintain compliant, high‑quality operations.

This hands‑on leadership position focuses on overseeing high‑volume central pharmacy workflows, coaching and developing staff, supporting scheduling needs, and ensuring safe, consistent, and efficient daily performance.

You will also support a structured pharmacy technician training program designed to build skills, promote career advancement, and strengthen our long‑term technician talent pipeline. As the department modernizes—through expanded automation and ongoing workflow enhancements, you will help guide teams through updates and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • 5 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, 2 of which should be in a leadership capacity.
  • Analytical/problem solving ability necessary to participate in the development of department procedures and goals. 
  • Participate in the analyses of operational problem and proposals and direct inventory control. 
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of hospital personnel, communicate with vendors, and cooperate with the nursing and medical staffs. 
  • Supervisory skills necessary to plan, organize, coordinate, and direct the activities of both professional and non-professional employees. 
  • Ability to work independently. 
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner to manage multiple projects. 
  • Personal computer skills.
     

    Preferences: 

  • Leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare or pharmacy setting preferred.

  • Familiarity with pharmacy automation, compounding standards, and high-volume distribution operations preferred.

  • Participation in training, precepting, or quality improvement work preferred.
