Overview

LMI is seeking a Platform/Cloud Engineer to support the development and deployment of web applications for Army predictive maintenance initiatives. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to mission-driven software used across the Army Futures Command enterprise. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, flexible environment and be self-directed, collaborative, and eager to grow technically.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure and platform services to support web applications
  • Build and manage Kubernetes clusters for container orchestration and application deployment
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and other automation tools
  • Create and manage containerized applications using Docker and Helm charts
  • Implement infrastructure as code practices for consistent and repeatable deployments
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize cloud resource utilization
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to help grow the team's platform engineering capabilities
  • Lead architecture discussions and provide strategic guidance on cloud infrastructure and deployment strategies
  • Collaborate with development teams to support application deployment and DevOps best practices
  • Meet with Army managers and representatives in a consultative capacity to discuss infrastructure requirements, security considerations, and technical solutions
  • Ensure security best practices and compliance requirements are met across all cloud environments
  • Document infrastructure configurations, deployment processes, and operational procedures
  • Comfortable working independently and as a member of a team, with demonstrated ability to work in strategic and consultant-oriented environments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

 

Percentage of Travel Required: 10%

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field and/or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years' experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
  • 5 years' experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
  • Experience with Docker containerization and Helm chart development
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or similar tools
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)
  • Experience planning, analyzing, designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level platform infrastructure
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership roles or technical mentorship
  • Clearance: Active Secret

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AWS cloud services and architecture
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipeline development and management
  • Knowledge of Python, Bash, or other scripting languages for automation
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or similar)
  • Experience deploying and managing applications in classified environments
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks for government systems
  • Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd, or similar)
  • Knowledge of the Army software development process and its technologies
  • Background working in strategic planning or consultant environments supporting government or DoD clients
  • Experience integrating machine learning and analytical tools into platform infrastructure
  • 7+ years of directly related experience
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

Target salary range: $120,000 - 160,000
