ABOUT THE ROLE

The Quality Technician (QT) fulfils three cement manufacturing quality roles on an alternating week-by-week basis: chemical laboratory testing, physical laboratory testing, and production shift control. In each of these functions the QT is responsible for reliable and accurate testing of plant raw materials, plant feed streams and sixteen types of finished product. The QT also maintains laboratory equipment in good working condition. This position works in conjunction with Production and Sales personnel to provide a customer driven product.

 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Analyze material samples to determine their physical and chemical properties, using a variety of procedures and instruments to determine conformity to required standards.
  • Record and review findings and test results using databases, spreadsheets, and other digital communication tools.
  • Assist with customer service issues with troubleshooting any problems or complaints.
  • Exercise and encourage core values through self development and coaching others with inspiration, integrity and empowerment.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Education:  High school diploma or equivalent

Field of Study Preferred: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering

Required Work Experience:  0 – 2 years

Required Computer and Software Skills: Knowledge of Data Entry, Microsoft Word and Excel, SAP experience a plus


Additional Requirements:

  • Use of various scales, compression machine, sieve shakers, ovens, aggregate decant machines, aggregate splitters, computer.
  • May drive a vehicle.
  • Excellent math skills
  • Detailed oriented
  • Able to prioritize work
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
