The Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting. They will be responsible for preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet reconciliations, supporting month-end close activities, and assisting with financial statement preparation. This role is a blend of recurring accounting functions and the opportunity to work on variable projects as the business grows.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the management of day-to-day accounting activities to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal.
  2. Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
  3. Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial reporting, including consolidated financial statements.
  4. Reconcile and analyze complex accounts, including intercompany transactions, fixed assets, accrued expenses, debt, and revenue recognition.
  5. Collaborate with FP&A, operations, and development teams to ensure proper classification of costs and alignment on financial treatment.
  6. Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and liaise with external auditors during the year-end audit.
  7. Participate in project meetings and provide financial insights and recommendations.
  8. Support implementation and optimization of accounting systems and processes to scale with organizational growth.
  9. Complete other duties as assigned with the accounting and finance teams. 

Education and Experience Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required, master’s preferred.
  2. 5+ years of relevant accounting experience.  
  3. Solid technical knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls.
  4. Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  5. Strong proficiency in accounting and financial principles, regulations, and best practices.
  6. Experience in managing and coordinating multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  7. Wind and/or solar energy project development, renewable energy industry and partnership experience preferred through not required.
  8. Demonstrate adaptability in learning and applying AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies to improve efficiency, accuracy, and process scalability within accounting and finance workflows.
