As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will work at the intersection of hardware, firmware and robotics, developing advanced electromechanical systems that directly impact patient outcomes. This is a hands on, collaborative role where your expertise will influence products from early concept through launch.

What will you be doing?
Developing electromechanical designs for robotic surgical systems from concept through production and launch
Designing, integrating and testing systems across electrical, mechanical and firmware domains including motor control and embedded systems
Defining hardware and firmware architecture, detailed requirements and design specifications in collaboration with cross functional partners
Designing, assembling, testing and analyzing prototypes against requirements
Performing PCB board bring up, functional testing and product troubleshooting
Developing embedded C firmware, algorithms and controllers for robotic applications
Participating in code reviews and detailed design reviews throughout development
Supporting verification and validation activities, test plans and experiments
Working closely with Systems, Software, Manufacturing, Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure successful product delivery
Maintaining design documentation in compliance with Smith+Nephew quality systems and regulatory requirements
What will you need to be successful?
Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Computer, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 5 plus years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 4 plus years of experience
Strong experience in electromechanical product development, embedded systems or robotics
Experience designing embedded PCB hardware and low level C or C plus plus firmware
Hands on experience integrating sensors, motors and control systems
Strong schematic review and hardware debugging skills using tools such as oscilloscopes and multimeters
Experience with communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, USB, TCP IP or EtherCAT
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within cross functional teams
Experience in regulated industries such as medical devices is a plus
