We’reĀ looking for a SeniorĀ Writer/EditorĀ to join ourĀ StrategicĀ CommunicationsĀ and MediaĀ teamĀ at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI)Ā toĀ manage content forĀ blogs, the SEI website,Ā blogs,Ā reports,Ā news stories,Ā and presentations.Ā You willĀ collaborateĀ with SEIĀ researchers, engineers, and otherĀ subject-matter expertsĀ throughĀ all stages of the writing process fromĀ inceptionĀ to completion.Ā

WhatĀ you’llĀ doĀ 

  • Collaborate with technical staffĀ to writeĀ blog postsĀ aboutĀ technical topics.Ā 

  • Write technical news and feature articles for the SEI website, Year in Review, and other communication channels.Ā 

  • Write and editĀ web content, video scripts,Ā andĀ content forĀ other electronic media.Ā 

  • EditĀ formalĀ technicalĀ reports.Ā TailorĀ yourĀ work for each project—from substantive editing,Ā toĀ copyediting,Ā toĀ proofreading—depending on project requirements, schedule, and budget.Ā 

  • WriteĀ and editĀ briefĀ articles and marketing materials.Ā 

  • Work withĀ SEIĀ Communication Design, Web Services, Public Relations, and OutreachĀ teamsĀ on publications, presentations, web pages,Ā information graphics,Ā and event materials.Ā 

  • Plan, manage, schedule, and trackĀ yourĀ projectĀ tasks.Ā

Who you areĀ 

  • You haveĀ at leastĀ fiveĀ years of experienceĀ inĀ writingĀ and editing.Ā 

  • You have excellent document planning, writing, substantive editing, and copyediting skills.Ā 

  • You are committed to customer serviceĀ forĀ subject-matter experts, but you are alsoĀ a strong advocate for theirĀ readers.Ā 

  • You have a keen eye for detail and a strong focus on qualityĀ and adherence toĀ a style guide.Ā 

  • You have strong organizational, time management, and project management skills and can prioritize multipleĀ responsibilities.Ā 

  • You have the social skills toĀ interview subject-matter experts orĀ work closely withĀ themĀ to plan and develop writtenĀ technicalĀ materials.Ā 

  • You haveĀ significantĀ experienceĀ with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and PowerPoint.Ā 

  • You can work with minimal or no supervision, but youĀ alsoĀ participateĀ in team decision making.Ā 

  • YouĀ will be subject to a background investigation.
