Security Officer - University Police Department

Carnegie Mellon University's Police Department (UPD) is searching for Security Officers who are highly motivated and eager to serve the CMU community! In this role you will be required to work a flexible schedule/hours, which includes working mandated overtime and continuation of regular tour of duty.

Core responsibilities will include:

• Conducting watchperson rounds of university buildings and areas to ensure the safety and security of the campus, the assigned sector, and its occupants/users
• Reporting suspicious activity, persons, and conditions immediately
• Providing escorts to students, staff, and faculty members
• Providing general assistance to campus police officers
• Providing general information to university personnel and visitors
• Performing foot patrol on campus grounds in all weather conditions and temperatures

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Prior work experience in a security-related role preferred

Requirements:

• Successful Background Check
• Child Protection Clearances (Act 153)
• Motor Vehicle Records (MVR)
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
• Credit check
• Security Clearance: You will be subject to a background investigation and must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.

Additional information:

• This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position based in Pittsburgh, PA.
• Sponsorship: Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States. CMU will not sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity
