The Purchasing Intern performs key tasks in support of several service areas provided by Carmeuse’s Purchasing Department. The role’s primary emphasis is the collection and distribution of information related to existing Purchasing programs. Additionally, the role should promote continuous improvement, seeking opportunities to streamline effort in order to assist in additional areas. The Purchasing Intern will communicate frequently with all levels of the company plus several suppliers.Â
Responsibilities and Duties
- Handle a variety of tasks to assist the Purchasing DepartmentÂ
- Utilize SAP (ERP system) to manage transactionsÂ
- Participate in procurement strategyÂ
- Assist and conduct Requests for Proposals (RFP’s)Â
- Supplier and internal communicationsÂ
- Supplier evaluation and negotiationsÂ
- Management of supplier databaseÂ
- Invoice reconciliationÂ
- Other projects as neededÂ
Job Qualifications
- Undergraduate or graduate business student; Supply Chain focus a plusÂ
- Solid communication and analytical skillsÂ
- Willingness to work with a variety of team membersÂ
- High energy level and ability to multi-taskÂ
- Desire to learn and take on responsibilityÂ
