聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The Berkshire District Attorney鈥檚 Office seeks to hire a full-time attorney who will join the District Court Prosecution team.聽

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Responsibilities

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Post conviction: handle expungements and sealing of records;

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Grand Jury presentations;

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to prosecute all aspects of criminal cases in primary and jury sessions of the three divisions of District Court in Berkshire County;

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Review police reports and charging decisions made by police agencies and make appropriate recommendations and changes as needed;

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Handle arraignments in court, make bail requests, motions for conditions of release, motions for detention such as dangerousness hearings and bail revocation hearings as appropriate;

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provide mandatory discovery to defendants/defense counsel;

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Handle pre-trial motions, evidentiary and non-evidentiary motions to suppress, and dismiss, and to prepare written memoranda and briefs where appropriate;

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Review case files, applicable statutes and case law, victim information and input, and determine an appropriate recommendation for case resolution;

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Handle any mental health commitment matters which impact criminal cases;

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Handle case resolution by way of plea, bench or jury trial. 聽



聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Required Qualifications:

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Juris Doctorate Degree from accredited law school;

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Membership in Massachusetts Bar,聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 3-5 years criminal litigation experience preferred

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.聽

聽Salary: $88,000
