SALARY RANGE:

$67,000 - $70,000; relocation package available.


HOURS:

8:00am – 5:00pm with 1 hour lunch break.

DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a self-driven and organized R&D Associate capable of managing multiple projects with minimal supervision. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex process issues, along with excellent communication and teamwork abilities.


You will collaborate closely with Technical-R&D, Production, and Quality teams to support product development, process improvement, and the evaluation of new materials, equipment, and technologies, driving continuous process innovation across the organization.


REQUIREMENTS

  • 1–3 years of experience in process engineering, preferably in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with plastics extrusion, calendaring, converting equipment, and film-to-film lamination—preferably in flexible packaging or a related industry preferred.
  • Proven ability to apply engineering principles in a production setting.
  • Familiarity with roll-to-roll converting equipment, web handling, and industrial printing processes preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product & Process Design and Development

Develop new products and optimize existing products and manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and product quality.


Equipment Evaluation & Qualification

Assess, test, and qualify new machinery, tools, and technologies for production use.


Scale-Up & Technology Transfer

Lead the transition from lab-scale R&D trials to full-scale production by defining process parameters, developing control plans, and supporting implementation within Operations.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with Production, Quality, and R&D teams to support initiatives and ensure effective integration of new technologies and processes.


Technical Documentation

Maintain clear and accurate documentation for processes, procedures, and project updates.


PREFERRED SKILLS:

Experience with:

  • Plastics extrusion and calendaring processes
  • Roll-to-roll converting and web handling systems
  • Film-to-film lamination and industrial printing processes
  • Process mapping tools (e.g., MS Visio)
  • Equipment layout/design software (e.g., AutoCAD)
  • ERP systems such as SAP

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • 1–2 years of process engineering experience, preferably in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles in a production setting preferred
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent continuous improvement certification preferred
