How You’ll Add Value

The Sr. Capacity Planner will be responsible for ensuring that our Sample and Repository Solutions (SRS) business has the right amount of resources, infrastructure, and operational capabilities to meet current and future demand across the business. This role will involve working cross-functionally with various departments (e.g., Operations, IT, Logistics, Finance, sales, project management and product management) to analyze data, forecast demand, and make recommendations for resource planning to ensure maximum efficiency and minimize bottlenecks. This role will be a leader of problem solving to enable impact and will be responsible for leading the SIOP process for the global business. 

What You’ll Do

Forecast Development & Optimization

  • Develop, maintain, and refine statistical demand forecasts using historical data, market trends, and predictive analytics.
  • Integrate input from Sales, Finance, and Product teams to create consensus forecasts for the SRS Business.
  • Analyze forecast accuracy and bias; implement corrective actions and continuous improvements.

Capacity Planning: 

  • Analyze historical people output and equipment output to create current capacity availability
  • Own the capacity plan for the SRS Operations
  • Ensure that operational resources are sufficient to meet current and forecasted demand

Optimization & Efficiency: 

  • Recommend changes to improve resource allocation and reduce inefficiencies. 
  • Propose methods for maximizing capacity without compromising quality or service delivery. 
  • Work with the operations team to optimize workflows and improve operational throughput. 

SIOP / S&OP / IBP Process Leadership

  • Lead the monthly SIOP (S&OP or Integrated Business Planning) cycle, ensuring alignment between demand, supply, and financial plans.
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings to reconcile demand signals and align on a single, agreed demand plan
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings to align on supply plan to deliver business needs
  • Present key forecast changes, risks, and opportunities to leadership

Data Analysis & Reporting: 

  • Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and production capacity.
  • Develop and maintain capacity models to predict system and infrastructure needs. 
  • Prepare regular reports on capacity utilization, gaps, and potential risks. 

Collaboration & Communication: 

  • Work closely with department heads to understand demand drivers and operational constraints. 
  • Coordinate with IT, production, and logistics teams to align resource planning efforts across departments. 
  • Communicate capacity constraints or bottlenecks and propose solutions to mitigate operational delays.

Process Improvement

  • Be a champion for continuous improvement and problem solving with sustained countermeasures
  • Standardize forecasting processes and documentation across the organization.
  • Apply best practices in statistical modeling, segmentation, and demand sensing.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Statistics, Analytics, or a related field. A Master’s degree or certifications (e.g., Six Sigma) is a plus. 
  • 5-10 years of experience in capacity planning, demand planning, supply chain management, or operations planning. 
  • Proven ability to analyze data and use it to make strategic recommendations. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Experience with demand forecasting, resource optimization, and managing complex workflows. 
  • Proficient in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, etc.). 
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Experience with SIOP, S&OP or Integrated Business Planning preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

Additional Skills Preferred: 

  • Experience with capacity planning in the Life Sciences industry. 
  • Knowledge of lean methodologies and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Experience with capacity planning in a distribution center

United States Base Compensation: $108,000.00 - $135,000.00

The posted pay range for this position is an estimate based on current market data and internal pay structure. Final compensation may vary above or below this range depending on factors such as experience, education (including licensure and certifications),  qualifications, performance, and geographic location, among other relevant business or organizational needs.
