Your Opportunity

The role of a Civil Engineer in Training (EIT) is to work on smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the close guidance and supervision of a senior engineer/designer. You should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products for a project. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations and field work. The smaller projects that a Civil EIT may be assigned to will have relatively few complex features. You will assist more senior engineers/designers by performing the routine aspects of civil engineering assignments, and may also assist in the analysis of proposed projects.

The Civil Engineer in Training (EIT) is responsible for working closely with Stantec’s project team on residential and commercial development projects which may include infrastructure design, construction observation, contract administration, land and earthworks analysis, stormwater management, and studies for feasibility, servicing, drainage, and property development potential.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Supports project team in development of design documentation, plans, and reports for relevant commercial and residential development and public infrastructure projects
  • Performs civil design using knowledge of relevant software programs
  • Works with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/ designer
  • Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer/ designer
  • Performs basic calculations to analyze and design civil system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software
  • Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity
  • Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions
  • Assists in basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices
  • Constructs models to identify project specifications and meet related needs by performing routing aspects of engineering assignments
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
