POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for providing comprehensive HR support and guidance across a variety of HR functions, with a focus on employee relations. Requires extensive knowledge of employment law and its application to bank policy. This HR Generalist will assist managers with coaching, counseling and disciplinary action to ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with established laws, bank policies and procedures. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

 

Assumes responsibility for the effective performance of human resource functions.

  •  Effectively interprets and communicates human resource policies to associates and managers.
  •  Assist Managers with employee relations and corrective actions as appropriate.
  •  Conduct internal investigations as assigned.
  •  Assist HR team members with other HR related tasks. 
  •  Assist with Unemployment claims and hearing tasks. 
  •  Cross train in other Generalist duties to serve as support and back-up.
  •  Assists in developing and implementing human resource plans, policies, procedures, and goals. 
  •  Recommends improvements to the HR function as appropriate.
  •  Perform other duties as assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This role has no supervisory responsibilities but may assist team members in the Manager’s absence.


QUALIFICATIONS


Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, Human Resources Certification; or equivalent experience/education.


Required Knowledge: 

Thorough knowledge of employment laws and regulations. 

Thorough knowledge of leave and accommodation regulations such as FMLA, ADA, PWFA.

Understanding of compensation and benefits policies and programs.


Experience Required: 

+ years of progressive experience in human resource positions.

3 + years of FMLA and ADA administration.

3+ years of employee relations experience.


Skills/Abilities: 

Strong analytical skills.

Excellent oral and written communications abilities.

Solid interpersonal and supervisory abilities.

Effective project management abilities.


PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

Finger Dexterity: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.

Talking: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

Repetitive Motion: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.

Physical Strength: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally. 

WORKING CONDITIONS

None: No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions (such as in a typical office).

MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions and to deal with problems involving a few 

variables.

Mathematics Ability: Ability to perform basic math skills, use decimals to compute ratios and percents.

Language Ability: Ability to read a variety of books, magazines, and instruction manuals. 

Ability to prepare memos, reports, and essays using proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar.

Ability to communicate distinctly with appropriate pauses and emphasis, correct pronunciation (or sign equivalent), and variation in word order using present, 

perfect, and future tenses.


Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
40 hours
