About the Role

The IT Security / System Administrator is responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimizing the organization’s IT infrastructure. This role ensures stability, integrity, and confidentiality of systems, networks, and data while supporting day-to-day IT operations. The position combines hands-on systems administration with proactive cybersecurity oversight to reduce risk and maintain regulatory compliance.

POSITION’S ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain servers.
  • Manage virtualization platforms and cloud services.
  • Microsoft AD support for On-Prem and Azure.
  • Perform system patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Maintain backup systems and disaster recovery solutions.

Security & Risk Management

  • Implement and maintain security controls across servers, endpoints, and network infrastructure.
  • Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint protection.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation efforts.
  • Monitor logs and alerts; respond to and document security incidents.
  • Enforce access controls, multi-factor authentication, and least-privilege policies.
  • Develop and maintain IT security policies and procedures.

Network Administration

  • Maintain infrastructure, switches, routers, and wireless networks.
  • Ensure secure remote access solutions for employees and vendors.
  • Optimize network performance and availability.

User Support & Documentation

  • Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for escalated issues.
  • Support onboarding/offboarding processes including account provisioning and deprovisioning.
  • Maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Conduct user training on cybersecurity awareness and IT best practices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5+ years of experience in system administration and IT security.
  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching).
  • Experience with firewalls, endpoint security tools, and backup systems.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and best practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues independently.
  • Industry certifications (CISSP, CISM, Security+, Microsoft, AWS, or similar), preferred.
  • Experience with SIEM tools and log analysis, preferred.
  • Knowledge of scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python), preferred.
  • Experience in regulated environments (e.g., healthcare, finance, government), preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of professionalism and integrity
