OmniOn Power is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Datacenter Power System Development Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design for power systems and power supplies, with proven success in delivering high-performance product designs to market. This role reports to the R&D Manager of Systems and is located at our HQ in Plano, TX. 

Responsibilities

As the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will:

  • Apply a solid understanding of AI power requirements, including OCP and HVDC systems.
  • Lead the development of new products from concept through launch, including:
    • Thermal analysis and simulation
    • Design documentation
    • Testing and characterization in the lab with technical support staff
  • Ensure all designs meet time-to-market and cost targets.
  • Create detailed definitions of parts, modules, and assemblies using:
    • 2D drawings, 3D models, tolerance stack-ups, and electronic data formats
  • Develop CAD models in a linked environment using Creo, and validate associated drawings.
  • Generate electronic data models for engineering analysis (Ansys), tooling, fixtures, and inspection support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, sourcing, global engineering, systems engineering) to develop and support state-of-the-art DC/DC power systems.
  • Integrate cutting-edge technologies into product designs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product development of power systems products

Desired Characteristics:

  • Expertise in:
    • Power electronics packaging design
    • Sheet metal, cable, PCB, and plastic design
    • Thermal management and testing
    • DFM principles
  • Proficiency with Pro-Engineer (Creo) CAD software
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and associated testing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with data center system products and designs
