Role Summary:

The Director of Industrial Engineering will lead the design and optimization of theatre layouts, storage areas, kitchen workflows, and lobby flow to maximize operational efficiency and enhance guest experience. This role will focus on improving throughput, labor productivity, and cost-effectiveness through engineering rigor, data-driven insights, and collaboration across multiple departments. The position will also oversee the development of scalable designs for new builds, retrofits, and expansions, ensuring alignment with Cinemark’s operational and financial goals.

The role partners closely with Construction, Food & Beverage (F&B), Continuous Improvement (CI), Operations, and Executive Leadership to deliver data-driven design solutions that enable growth, operational excellence, and an exceptional guest experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the design and optimization of work areas, facility layouts, storage areas, labor standards, tools, and process design.
  • Lead lobby and kitchen layout engineering to optimize throughput, space utilization, and labor efficiency.
  • Develop scalable designs for new services, retrofits, and expansions (e.g., beverage, concessions).
  • Collaborate with Continuous Improvement (CI) team to embed standards into initiatives and validate performance against benchmarks.
  • Oversee testing and validation of new services, processes, and tools for seamless integration.
  • Partner with construction teams to evaluate concepts for cost-effective solutions.
  • Work closely with Food & Beverage (F&B) teams to assess operational impact and support concept development.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Industrial Engineering with a strong background in retail, restaurants, amusement parks, or similar industries.
  • 7+ years of leadership experience managing teams and large-scale cross-functional projects.
  • Demonstrated success in improving labor productivity, maximizing throughput, and enhancing efficiency through layout and workflow design
  • Strong understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to influence executive decision-making though compelling business cases and data-driven insights
  • Proven ability to collaborate across all levels and departments, influencing stakeholders effectively.
  • Expertise in problem-solving and engineering rigor.
  • Experience leading or supporting the design of new locations.
  • Knowledge of equipment utilization optimization and F&B operations (preferred).
  • Proficiency in time and motion studies and simulation modeling for various scenarios.
  • Excellent communication skills.
