The Outside Operator is responsible for supporting acrylamide production operations by monitoring and operating outside process equipment, collecting samples, and performing other operational activities within the production area.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the Acrylamide Unit.
  • Read, understand, and follow all applicable operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards within assigned work areas and throughout the facility.
  • Follow all required permit procedures, including confined space entry, hot work, and line break activities.
  • Identify, communicate, mitigate when possible, and report unsafe behaviors, conditions, and spills.
  • Understand the hazards associated with equipment and process chemicals, and follow appropriate safety practices.
  • Identify and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for assigned tasks and process areas.
  • Accurately record and maintain process data and operating information.
  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot process equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform and document all required process checks, sampling, and inspections.
  • Identify and troubleshoot process upsets or operational issues.
  • Ensure chemicals and materials are properly charged, mixed, and sampled according to procedures.
  • Safely load railcars, trucks, and containers in accordance with operational and scheduling requirements.
  • Operate within established process parameter limits and make adjustments as needed to maintain product quality.
  • Identify, address, and report process deviations.
  • Operate forklifts and perform required forklift inspections.
  • Handle, move, inspect, or assist with the management of hazardous waste in accordance with the Facility Hazardous Waste Management Program.
  • Assist other outside operations personnel as needed to support overall plant efficiency and production goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision or site leadership.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent - Required.

EXPERIENCE:
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) stewardship.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Ability to multi-task, learn quickly, and adapt to changing operational needs.
  • Ability to wear respiratory protection, including a respirator and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
  • Strong process knowledge or experience, preferably in highly hazardous process environments.
