The Material Handler is responsible for process sampling of ATBS intermediates and finished products, as well as converting ATBS pellets into ATBS sodium solution for loading into tank trucks or totes. This role requires accurately filling, weighing, and documenting finished goods, as well as troubleshooting related equipment and process issues.
Responsibilities
- Read, follow, and understand all applicable operating procedures.
- Operate and adjust process parameters to ensure product quality.
- Ensure finished product is properly blended, filtered, and sampled.
- Communicate and execute transfers to storage tanks accurately.
- Replenish essential process chemicals to minimize production delays.
- Understand hazards associated with equipment and process chemicals and operate safely and efficiently.
- Operate and troubleshoot equipment; operate forklift and conduct forklift inspections, as well as pallet jack operations as needed.
- Accurately and consistently record process information.
- Identify, communicate, and help mitigate unsafe behaviors, conditions, and spills.
- Identify and understand properties and hazards of chemicals.
- Follow all permit procedures, including confined space, hot work, and line break permits.
- Assist with loading and unloading finished products and raw materials as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Management.
- Housekeeping and maintaining a safe, organized work environment.
- Routine responsibilities include waste disposal, plant inspections (round sheets), and participation in continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or equivalent - or GED - Required
EXPERIENCE:
- Prior experience in a manufacturing, chemical, or production environment preferred
- Experience operating industrial equipment and/or forklifts a plus
- Experience following safety procedures and operating in an EHS-focused environment preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated strong Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) stewardship.
- Strong process knowledge.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed.
- Ability to multitask, learn quickly, and adapt to change.
- Rotating 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
